Brief
description Reach Out Christian School, Inc. is a Biblically based Christian school for special needs children - that is, children diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, LD, co-existing conditions such as OCD, the related spectrum of Autism, and Giftedness. We also work intensively with the whole family. The school teaches one-on-one from the perspective of the child. The curriculum is multi-sensory, teaching the basic core subjects - math, language arts, science, and history - with practical application from hands-on experience. More information is available on how the curriculum is based on the Bible, as well as on our teaching strategies for learning differences - which we call specialized learning plans. Be sure to read about one secret to our success: family involvement in the education process. Administration and StaffFounder and director: Charlotte H. Gresham Charlotte Gresham is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, and secondary school certification. She has taught for over 25 years, with experience teaching high school, pre-school, and kindergarten classes as well as in private and individualized instruction. Her aim is to offer help through education, advocacy, and support to children with ADD, ADHD, LD, co-existing conditions such as OCD, the related spectrum of Autism, and Giftedness - as well as to their entire families. Her professional memberships include:
Assistant director: W. Wayne Gresham Wayne Gresham teaches industrial arts, using special techniques adapted to the learning style of specialized learners. His training and experience emphasize business management and a wide range of hands-on skills. This is exactly the kind of hands-on learning that specialized learners require. (See teaching strategies for learning differences.)

They fully understand the importance of positive Christian approaches to the crucial roles of parenting and teaching. History of Reach Out Christian School, Inc. - established in 1997Reach Out Christian School, Inc. (known from the acronym as ROCS) originated in the summer of 1997 as a Christian private school offering an alternative education program for children with special needs - especially defined as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and/or Learning Disabled (LD), as well as for gifted children and children who required remediation and enrichment. In December, 1998, the school became a nonprofit corporation under the Georgia Nonprofit Corporation Code. Reach Out Christian School, Inc. was recognized by the IRS in 2000, and by the Georgia Revenue Department in 2001, as a tax exempt charitable organization under section 501(c)(3). (This means that contributions are tax deductible to the donor, under sections 170(d) of the Internal Revenue Code.) In 2003, the school became full time, pioneering a full time Christian private school specifically for ADD, ADHD, and LD students with learning differences, as well as for students with co-existing conditions such as OCD. In 2005, the school also began to serve students with the related spectrum of Autism. In order to teach special needs students successfully, the school has created a special environment, using encouraging and accepting teaching strategies for learning differences. The school has continued to recognize educational practices defined by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 guidelines, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) legislation, and Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations. Reach Out Christian School, Inc. is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, so that when students transfer to other schools, the credits will be accepted. AdmissionsThe school teaches boys and girls eligible for grades 1 through 8. The admissions process begins with the initial phone discussion with the school director, Charlotte Gresham. The next step is a tour of the school and an interview with the whole family. It's not necessary for the child or family members to be Christian. People of all faiths are welcome. The school is nondiscriminatory: Reach Out Christian School, Inc. admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded to or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs. And by visiting, you can experience first-hand the joy of being in this healing environment. For this reason, we don't offer an email address for contact.
